TREND ALERT: FRINGE BENEFITS

Written by Cortnie of StyleLust

Fringe detailing is another hot trend for this season! As you can see it's been incorporated into almost everything. Clothing, jewelry, accessories, you name it. Definitely giving off some of that 80's vibe, but more up-to-date. My favorites? The Alexander Wang wedges and the Oasis bag. I didn't add it to the collage, but I've had my eyes on the Antik Batik fringed bag. It's got bead and sequin detailing, as well as fringe. Ugh! Gorgeous! You may not be surprised, but I've managed to add a little fringe to my wardrobe for summer already. It came in the form of the Rebecca Taylor Spaghetti Cardigan (I got it from Nordstrom, but they don't have it online. Here it is at Shopbop).

Essential Wardrobe Pieces No Woman Should Be Without

Written by Sarah Perry of Praying for Prada

Here's part 1 of a selection from my "wardrobe basics" series; a series I write not only for you readers, but for myself. You see, I am a former sufferer of "wardrobe glut". You might recognize this malady if you've ever found yourself facing an open closet full of clothes with a sinking abdominal sensation that feels like something between acid reflux and "I have nothing to wear".  So I've edited a selection of basics that will trend-proof your wardrobe by giving it a flexible, timeless foundation - one providing you with infinite possibilities while never falling "out of style".  All these pieces are once-n-done purchases - they'll beat the trends and last for years. And that's good for everyone's wallet - whether you bought it from Target or Hermes.

The Basics, #1 Little Black Dress

Here's our debut piece: the little black dress.

If there's one frock you ought to stock, it's this one.  The L.B.D. can be worn to just about any occasion, and won't ever go out of style.  Make sure to choose one of a woven fabric that requires dry-cleaning: a dress with too much jersey or spandex will lose its shape through the seasons, and machine washing is guaranteed to fade the dark pigment over time. The L.B.D. is a total chameleon: it can work alone or under layers, be accessorized or fly solo, get dressed up or dressed down. It's a good idea to spend a bit more to ensure the type of quality garment that will avoid a re-purchase in subsequent years. But this doesn't mean spending a fortune.  Macy's has just revealed a robust collection of little black dresses on their website that start at $26!
