Campus BuzzMy Race to the Finish
Hey yall! My name is Thomas Patrick Squire II and I'm a junior communication major journalism minor at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. Since most people don't know where that is I just say, Myrtle Beach lol. To say I'm involved in school is a slight understatement. I'm active with organizations like Leadership Challenge, Music Director for WCCU Radio, Coastal Productions Board, Finance Board, NAACP, Student Alumni Ambassador, Student Advisory Council for the College of Edwards Humanities and Fine Arts, and last but not least, SGA.
So sleep is something I dream of when I'm awake but never get a chance to obtain. And one would think with this stressful schedule that taking 17 credits would not be the smartest but yeah, I'm taking it on day-by-day and actually doing pretty well. Or so I hope since, we haven't taken finals yet. The whole reason I'm telling you this is because I decided to run for the VP of Finance for SGA (go COMMITMENT)! Embarking on this journey I thought that I was a shoe in. I was the only member of Finance Board left that was going to run. I was well versed in what needed to be done which would mean that all I would have to do is put my name on the dotted line. This position is stipend so the University would pay some of my tuition, which would be greatly appreciated. This sounds like an easy win all the way around, right? Wrong! I anxiously waited for the deadline to appear and no one else had turned in an application until one day, another applicant was in the running. "Oh no", I thought. Now I have to campaign and rally for votes and to make matters worse this dude was in a fraternity. In my mind, that equated to more popularity and influence. Ok, well hate to cut my story short but you are going to have to check out part two of story, my race to the finish! See you next week!!!
